Since eons, this aspect has been something of a debate that whether, hobby plays any role or paves way in choosing a career.
However, it has to be understood that, before reading further, circumstances and situations and conditions play a role in this aspect. The beautiful thing is that in the modern era where technology and cross culturing is very high and borders are being erased in a sense with the sophistication that is available, there are many careers available to choose from.
Now, “Students spend time, on their interests and hobbies after school hours. It may not remain as a hobby when they grow up.” This particular sentence is true to an extent. In this rat race of life, importance or stress is being given to the marks gained on papers but not for the knowledge of the student. This holds true for 65%-70% of the students in India.
Now, a hobby can be of a temporary basis of a very short range or a mid range time length and the second one a long range, meaning, the hobby is not going to change till a very long time even if the individual chooses something else as the career path.
The people (Teacher, Friends, Parents, Relatives, Cousins and some times strangers) involved with the individual and also the interest on the hobby of the individual involved combined together or separated differently plays a role of making way for the career choice.
Now, what has to be understood is how much the child is interested in a hobby to make a career out of it and second how much the child is ready to fight for what he believes in of making his hobby as a career. This happens in 3 stages:
